Matthew D. Kauffmann is a Certified Professional Photographer, an amateur theologian, and the author of On Your Terms: Sacred Authenticity Through Boudoir and the Practice of Coming Back, which means the philosophical framework behind every session isn't borrowed from a brand workshop. It's lived. It's published. It's the thing Matthew actually believes.
The belief: every person carries inherent dignity. Imago Dei. The image of something sacred. And that dignity doesn't require you to perform a particular version of beauty to earn it. It just requires someone willing to witness it.

I'm a rebel artist, a Certified Professional Photographer, an amateur theologian, a Scoutmaster, and a retired paramedic who found his most sacred vocation behind a camera in an intimate studio in Lebanon, Illinois.
I've spent nearly 25 years perfecting this craft — from the World Series of Poker to the pages of national magazines to this: a studio built specifically for the people who have always fit best in their own little world.
I wrote a book about this work. On Your Terms: Sacred Authenticity Through Boudoir and the Practice of Coming Back. Not because I had something to sell, but because I had something to say — about desire, and dignity, and the Quiet Math we do against ourselves, and what happens when someone finally sees us clearly.
